Does the Pope Get Severance Pay - Workology
Does the Pope Get Severance Pay Here the list of HR issues that I identified. Somewhere in the Vatican right now, a frantic HR clerk is searching through dusty record boxes trying to find the information on how to do the retirement benefits for a Pope. Nobody has used those specific policies since Gregory XII left the office in 1415. Thats right, Pope Benedict has given his two week resignation notice. And some guy is cursing in high Latin. Qui in Inférnus agnóvit, quod Papa est actu iens ut volo ut cash in eius effin 401k? Its probably time to do some policy updating. It might be an event that only happens once every several centuries, but this proves it. There is no job that someone wont eventually leave, dead or alive. Your organization needs to be ready, for anything really. Check the many HR issues identified in this one random news story from Yahoo that the Vatican will be managing over the next few weeks: (emphasis added) British Catholics were in a state of confusion and amazement today after the Vatican confirmed the Pope was resigning due to health reasons. Pope Benedict, who made the announcement in Latin, will step down on February 28th. The Vatican said the period of vacant Papacy will be as brief as possible. Minutes after the announcement, the Vatican website crashed under the weight of traffic. He is the first Pope to resign since Gregory XII in 1415, who was trying to end the Western Schism, in which three people claimed the Papal throne. Before that the last Pope to resign was Celestine V in 1294. There has been speculation about the 85-year-olds health since last year, when he often appeared exhausted and sullen. He admitted at a Morning Mass in April to being on the final leg of the path of my life, but speculation was dampened by the fact very few observers were even aware Popes could resign. The Yahoo article Mass Confusion as Pope Resigns ends with a couple of paragraphs about other very serious internal and external issues that have beset this Pope and the Catholic Church during his reign. Here the list of HR issues that I identified. Loss of key talent due to personal reasons Succession planning Organizational crisis management Corporate communications issue IT infrastructure issues Leadership transition struggles HR policies are probably non-existent or out of date (Does the Pope get a severance package??? Whats his pension worth?) Leadership attitude reflected in the organization External crisis management You should look at your own organization, and start a list like this for your own one in a thousand years talent management loss crisis. You know you have one. Yeah, Im just trying to be helpful. Añadir a la guÃa de conversación No hay listas de palabras para Inglés - Español Crear una nueva lista de palabras Copiar

Having a Job Today Doesnt Guarantee You Will Have a Job Tomorrow
Having a Job Today Doesnât Guarantee You Will Have a Job Tomorrow Martin: Thank you for connecting with me; may I offer you a free no obligation, no sales pitch resume critique? Mary: Thank you for the offer Martin, but Im currently not looking for a job. In fact, I had my annual performance appraisal just last month and my manager told me Im one of his star employees. Krasimira Nevenova Fotolia.com If I offered you a free resume critique, would you accept or would your response be more like Marys? I offer and conduct numerous complimentary resume critiques each week and am continually shocked at the number of career professionals who decline my offer. Who doesnt like free advice? The job for life concept our grandparents were afforded no longer exists. Employer and employee loyalty no longer exists, or at best, is a rarity. In reality, hundreds of individuals are let go weekly; some people are aware of the planned downsizing, but many individuals are completely caught off guard when the pink slip arrives. Smart career management means you always have a current resume at the ready. While you may not be actively looking for a job, what would you do if a potential employer reached out to offer you your dream job but the HR contact needed a current resume sent within 24 hours? At a minimum, I recommend you review and update your resume annually. If your resume hasnt been updated recently, it likely utilizes a format that lacks keywords and would fail an Applicant Tracking System scan. Use a brag book to document quantifiable career achievements and professional development completed during the past 12 months. Taking this one step further, seek and accept the advice of a professional resume writer knowledgeable in resume and job search trends. Three weeks later..Hello, Elite Resumes, how may I help you? Martin, this is Mary. I lost my job today and Im in dire need of an updated resume. Can you help? Save yourself the time and stress Mary had to go through by following the Scouts motto of my youth: Be Prepared!
